Edna Ferguson Tate family papers, 1758-1958.

The collection consists of five items that concern the Tate, Ferguson, and Byrd family history in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia (Pickens & Gordon Counties). The colection includes a notebook that contains Tate family history, clippings, and some history of the bank in Fairmount. Also included are a chronology of Edna Ferguson Tate's education and chronology of children's births and family activities - moves, education, etc., a manuscript of an incomplete autobiography of Mrs. Tate, and a typescript of "Tates of North Carolina" by William Tate.

Edna Ferguson Tate was born the daughter of Daniel Wyatt and Sarah Jane Ferguson on August 2, 1873. In 1901 she married Philip May Tate and from 1902 until 1907 they lived in Calhoun, Georgia where he served as president of the bank. In April of 1907, after Philip sold his interest in the Calhoun Bank they moved to Fairmount, Georgia where he bought interest in the bank there. When he died in 1911, Edna Tate was elected the bank president and served in that position until 1926. She was also quit...
